AHHHH!!!!! guys! i'm freaking out a little. the last 6 weeks. But It's going to Be AMAZING!!!
So... this last week we knew Hermana Dupuis was leaving, but it seriously was up in the air about Hermana Ramsay and I. we had no idea. we hoped we would stay together, but no such luck. after everyone in the zone had been called we thought we were safe, but then around 10:15 we got a call saying we were all leaving. Hermana Ramsay is opening up a new area in the East LA stake and i'm going just down the road to Pomona. So after all the running around we had seen Hermana Dupuis doing this last week, she just sat and laughed as the tables had turned on us. And now the ward will have another set of Elders. We were literally shocked. I thought Chino would be my last area, I seriously loved the people, and LOVED the ward. They have SO much love and i seriously am going to miss them all soooooooo much! But i am going to love the Pomona ward. it was opened up to sisters not too long ago and Hermana Dupuis filled me in. She only spent 6 weeks there, but it might have been one of her favorite transfers of the mission. I'm going to be in another trio. imagine that. with Hermana Taylor, and Hermana Brown. Well.. only for 2 weeks. Hermana Taylor is going home mid transfer. and Hermana Brown was in the MTC with me for my last 2 weeks. But It's going to be UHmazing!
Last night was the Despedida for all the missionaries going home, It was like the reunion of the century. and so good to see all my covina/Azuza/la canada/tujunga/chino friends. (You're probably wondering what the Azuza. she never served there... But! being friends with Hermana Dupuis and working with the Ortiz family you have an automatic in!. They are seriously the sweetest! they told me to call them for my despedida and they would be there! I LOVE THAT FAMILY!) speaking of the ortiz family- Freddy got baptized last week, they wrote Hermana Dupuis a letter that said see you in the temple in a year! it was so precious! Freddy has this glow about him. you can tell he and his family are SO happy! Joan was also there! it was so good to see Joan.
Oh! Random Covina news. remember Rosa and her family? Rigo and David her sons were my first baptism way back last november. So we called her to invite her to the despedida and she had told us how her daughter, Marlene got baptized recently, and that her other daughter and her friend were planning on getting baptized in december! SO exciting! I love missionary work. coming towards the end you can see how people have changed their lives, and how i feel i only had a small part. more like they helped me way more than i ever could help them.
Anyways... Back to Chino for a minute. I think one of the main reasons We were all so sad that we were leaving is that because this week we actually started teaching Francisco and Virgilia. The Parents of William (the husband of Evelyn- who wont let his family get baptized ) We had Virgilia start teaching us how to cook some delicious Guatemalan food. and we had been getting together with them frequently. They started opening up to us and were ready for us to teach them. I LOVE this family! They are the sweetest most precious older couple i have ever met! Virgilia is SO ready to be baptized, she just is waiting for Francisco.
But The Elders that know him will take over teaching them. so they will be left in good hands.
I think out of all the people that were sad that we were leaving was Bishop. We were told to get into his heart when President Becerra met with us a while back and thats just what we did. He said he was going to call President and complain. so who knows.. maybe they'll have Hermanas back there soon.
Anyways... I'm so grateful for this opportunity that i've had to serve so far. it truly has changed my life for the better. and like i always say... time flies. so.. it's going to go so fast, but i'm so excited.
