Como estan?! hope your week was AMAZING!
This week was full of ups and downs, but it was still great, like always.
Monday our zone was playing volleyball and just before we started i
was sitting on the stage and an Elder walked in saw the ball on the
ground kicked it and pegged me in the face. ouch. ha ha, but i'm ok.
no black eyes or anything. and its a good thing because Tuseday we
had zone conference. President Becerras parents were there. so good to
meet them and talk with them, they are so great! and so helpful. They
live in Draper, so we'll be friends after the mission.
Oh! I forgot to mention the Youth last week. The youth in the
Tujunga/sunland wards are doing a mini mission thing. They are getting
a companion and teaching an investigator we had a workshop with them
last sunday and they are so ready and all so excited for missionary
work! They are going to be some amazing missionaries soon! also we are
teaching this young man, Carlos, his dad died about 2 months ago. he
loved talking to the missionaries before he died- and the story about
how the missionaries found them is amazing, but Carlos plays football
for his high school team and one of his friends is a member, so we
decided to take his friend, Porter with us to a lesson. wow! he showed
up and was so excited which made us even more excited to be there,
unfortunately carlos had a family emergency to attend to, but we
rescheduled for tuesday and Porter is super excited to come back and
teach the plan of salvation with us. :)
We were super excited for our lesson with Pearl on Thursday, we tried
to make it sooner, but for some reason or another she couln't meet
with us. Sunday we were excited to see her at church again and
hopefully have a lesson with her after, but she texted us during
church and said sorry sisters, i've decided to go to another church.
We're not going to let her off the hook that easy, hopefully there
will be more to come, but when your family and friends aren't
supporting you, it's kind of hard.
We are also teaching Joan- She has no family left. her parents died a
few years ago and her sister died of a drug overdose. She used to be
an alcholic, she overcame that, now she's trying to overcome an
addiction to prescription drugs. we went to go have a lesson with her
about the word of wisdom, but when she opened the door we knew that
wouldn't be possible- she had just taken too many pills and was
shaking and not coherent. So sad to see someone with so much potential
to falter, but she has great friends in the church who are like her
family and we are continuing to work with her.
We found her the same day we helped a non member move out of her dads
house and back into her house that she hasn't lived in in quite some
time. there were only a few boxes we packed up and took to the house,
but when we opened the door we realized that we were adding fuel to
the fire. as she really has no more room for anything else.
That was an emotionally exhausiting day.
The Parks- a sweet member family in our ward have a friend named
Jennifer- remember that day i went on splits with Allie Palmer? we
picked her up as an investigator and we've been continuing to teach
her- she came to church yesterday and is considering baptism on the
19th. :)
We should be having a baptism on Sunday with Dago- his family just got
sealed in the temple a few weeks ago and they are excited for when
they can go to the temple with him.
Mormon helping hands was on Saturday. we went to brand park in
Glendale and cut out overgrown bamboo so that you could actually hike
the trail. There was a TON of it. but lots of people there to lighten
the work. There was a group that was working and found a killer bee
hive. a few people and missionaries got stung. good thing no one was
allergic, but word on the street is someone got stung 17 times or
something. ouch.
So next week is transfer calls. president usually doesn't keep people
in a trio for more than one transfer, so we'll see what happens.. I
have no idea. but i'll come what may and love it.
