Hey Family and friends!
This week has been pretty good here in Chino.
You're all probably wondering how the pizza making went. Well... We went over and made the pizza- it turned out super delicious (it looked super delicious anyways...) i'll let you be the judge. so we got it out of the oven along with some delicious smelling french bread and some orange Fanta (the dad's favorite) He seriously came home right on time, this time we let him walk in the house and then we left. I was getting the plates on the table, the finishing touches, and my companions greet him- Hola! Como esta? hicimos pizza para su familia! we made pizza! Anyways.. he didn't look happy at all to see us in his house, so we left it at that to let them eat as a family. The next day we has a lesson with Evelyn- the pizza was delicous, we asked what William thought, and you could tell something was kind of wrong. but basically he asked that we dont stop by anymore. This is not the outcome we had expected, of course right now this story hasn't had the outcome we have wanted. His whole family who comes to our ward hopes and prays every day for a miracle. His parents aren't members, but come to church frequently. We met with his parents yesterday and we shared how we felt that if they wanted to see a miracle they would have to act- yes! we can pray for miracles, but we have to be willing to do our part to help God give us a miracle. We feel that they should follow christs example by being baptized as well. His mom was all for it, but she wont be baptized until the Father is ready. His father was kind of like William and then realized what he had been missing out on and feels a ton of guilt, he told us he was worse than William, but we know he's not, because he's showing his faith by talking to us. That family wants to see a change and i seriously have come to grow and love that family, so hopefully we'll be able to work with them more. something good will come of this!
The hard part about missionary work is that it's not the fairy tale ending you want it to be. This work really is all in Gods timing and his plan is way better than mine. so it truly will all work out in the end.
We had interviews with president this week. I think it was good for all of us- I actually wanted a little pick me up so i asked him for a blessing. he was so willing and i was so grateful for it- something that stuck out to me which was said about 3 times i think was that there are people who are ready in your area, they are hard to find.
Well... they are there! We just have to search harder.
So with Ana we've decided to step back a little bit and see what we can do to help her get to church and embrace the gospel, Her and her 2 boys had a tour this week and liked it a lot, we just have to get them to church on sunday before we can take any more steps. There really is no doubt in my mind they'll be baptized soon.
Blast from the past back to Covina- The Covina ward only has one set of missionaries now, but they are working with la familia Ortiz and are hoping to plan a baptism for Freddy and Yarelli soon. We're super excited for them!
Have i mentioned how Our ward has a new bishop as of like 2 months? It's a good new start, along with that we've been working with the members who truly are amazing and they've been giving us referrals like crazy! which are great, they are usually not in our area though- in another ward in the stake which is great! and a nice warm fuzzy story of the week- one of our members got a phone call last monday from a lady, who called the wrong number, looking for a pastor. He's like uh.... i dont know any pastor, but i do know some missionaries who can help you. They got to talking and she shared how she was going through some tough times and how she didn't like the church she was attending at the moment. she was looking for more. WOW! we went to visit this family on Friday and we called the lady to set up an appt. she talked to our member and was super annoyed that he hadn't called her back sooner. ha ha. So the work is progressing. there are people who are ready for the gospel. some are easier to find than others, but not a problem, we're still working. still laughing.
And we've learned a lot this week about being in the right place at the right time, sometimes we dont know where we're going or why but there's always a reason. and we're always placed in the path of someone who needs us
Don't forget the relief society broadcast this week! It's going to be UHmazing! Also super excited for conference! and! i love 1Cor 2:9. :)
